We are very sorry to advise you all that Guy Rutter passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon (05.07.26) surrounded by his family. After his initial diagnosis Guy fought on for 3 and a half years.
Many of us will remember Guy for the great man he was. A brilliant leader and our original Club Captain serving on the committee for many years and being ever present around the club. His endless energy, tireless organisation, positivity, and inclusivity saw the club thrive during his time.
We will share funeral details when they are known, and I am sure that you will all join us as a club in sending all of Guy's friends and family our deepest condolences and best wishes at this difficult time.

Martin Lee - Guy was a very special friend and I'm struggling to find a way through the loss of this great man, I just cant imagine how his family are coping. That said he was a top bloke and fondly remembered, a wicked sense of humour, with so many tales of his life I heard. RIP buddy.

James Charlton - Guy was the reason I joined the squash club. A practical man, he was doing some work for a neighbour when we got chatting and he insisted that I come and have a knock with him.

Richard Ewels - Guy was inspirational, on and off the court. A good friend, always willing to help others and to make everyone feel welcome. He led by example, was selfless and positive in attitude. His memory will live on.

Chris Ferriday - A true example of unbridled positivity in the face of adversity. I don’t know how he maintained such a level of optimism.
I used to marvel at his work and level of energy at the club. On court he was a fierce but very fair competitor. Humble in victory and a true gentleman.
He will be missed. RIP Guy.

Paul Sherry - ..A genuinely warm and thoroughly decent human being. Guy was always a cheerful presence and a friendly face in the changing room and a terrific ambassador for the club...he'll be sorely missed by all who knew him...

Martin Charlesworth - I vividly remember the sinking feeling when one of Guy's powerful drives whizzed past my racket heading once again for the back corner of the court. Guy was indeed an accomplished and strong squash player. He was also a natural team leader and organiser. He did wonders for the club. But beyond this, he was friendly, open, gracious and kind. He was always interested in other people and keen to share the benefits of the club with them. His response to his long final illness showed remarkable dignity, courage and forbearance. I join many others in saluting him as a remarkable person and valued friend.

Mark Collins - Guy was a remarkable man with a huge spirit and dedication. He always excelled at whatever he turned his hand to.
A true leader and did wonders for the club, always approachable and unsparing of his time.
Guy was also very kind and had a strong compassionate side to his personality., reaching out to people with a problem.
Will miss you Guy, you were truly inspirational.
